Fifth Generation Warfare explained:

Fifth generation warfare (5GW) is a concept that describes a form of warfare that is characterized by the use of non-traditional means and tactics, including information operations, psychological operations, cyber warfare, and other asymmetrical techniques. Unlike traditional warfare, which is primarily fought on physical battlefields, 5GW is fought primarily in the information and psychological domains, with the goal of shaping public opinion, undermining the legitimacy of opponents, and achieving strategic objectives without resorting to physical force.

5GW represents a fundamental shift in the nature of warfare. The use of non-traditional means and tactics, including information operations and cyber warfare, is becoming increasingly important in modern conflicts, and that traditional military strategies and tactics may be less effective in the face of these new challenges.
